As always, this collection aims to list some things I'd dream of if money weren't an issue. For this one, money is absolutely no object. It's the Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar watch—so exquisite, so meticulously crafted, and so uniquely designed—that I simply have to own it.
This Astronomia Solar watch belongs to the Grand Complication Masterpieces collection, which boasts many uniquely designed timepieces priced in the seven figures! This particular watch features a 21mm thick 18K rose gold case. To those unfamiliar with watches, such a heavy case might seem excessive, but it's necessary to accommodate the numerous complex functions within this work of art. A citrine crystal, representing the sun, is set at the center of the dial. Three other gemstones represent the other planets: amethyst, garnet, and smoky quartz. Additionally, there's a globe crafted in rose gold and blue lacquer. All the planets revolve around the sun, adding a vibrant touch to your wrist. The watch's base is adorned with a night sky motif, with other planets also depicted on it, rotating once every ten minutes. Finally, the watch comes with a beautiful blue leather strap.
This is indeed a powerful and complex timepiece, undoubtedly one of the most expensive and talked-about watches ever made. Frankly, I don't think I'll wear it often. Perhaps only on formal occasions requiring a tuxedo and an air of ultimate luxury. Otherwise, I'd much rather sit alone in a dimly lit room, a glass of wine in hand, Al Green's music playing in the background, openly admiring my astronomical solar-powered watch.
